A Second Life
(Sept. 2021)

Devoted Wildcat raced his last race in November of 2019, and the next day we picked him up from Finger Lakes Race Track. Hillrise Equestrian entered Devoted Wildcat into the Retired Racetrack Program for 2020, a program designed to show that racehorses can be more than just a racehorse. With a global pandemic our chance to enter the program was postponed until 2021. This past September Devoted Wildcat, now named Wilbur traveled to Kentucky with the Hillrise staff and competed in this program.
After 2 years of training Wilbur performed phenomenally and placed in the top 20 horses for the show. We could not be prouder of him! This is the second success story we have had with the RRP, Izzy (Ecoach) also placed in the top 20 when she competed in 2018.

Hillrise Deemed Essential by NYS ESD
(April 2020)

Valued Hillrise Equestrian Center Inc. Clients,

Hillrise has heard of many parents’ struggles with being able to maintain our student’s anxiety, depression and other mental health and physical challenges that have been exasperated by the COVID-19 pandemic social isolation. These feelings are heightened by not having access to the calming, therapeutic outlet that our specially trained horses can provide. In response to this Hillrise Equestrian Center Inc. made a request to New York State Department of Economic Development d/b/a Empire State Development related to COVID 19, for designation as an essential business for purposes of Executive Order 202.6.
As of April 20, 2020 the E.S.D. has given Hillrise Equestrian Center Inc. the designation as an “Essential Business” based on the therapeutic nature of the Horsemanship Services provided.  This is due to my PATH Int. Certification as a Mental Health Professional.

In result of this Hillrise Equestrian Center Inc. will be resuming a restructured schedule to be consistent with the CDC COVID-19 Guidelines.  If your child has been impacted please let me know about any individual concerns you have so that I can adjust your child’s plan ahead of time to meet their needs.

A set of Hillrise General Guidelines will be posted soon and will need to be maintained to make sure all students, parents and Hillrise staff are kept safe. As you know social distancing is very easy to maintain at our facility but, we may need to adjust scheduled times for now.

Please contact me by text, email or phone as soon as possible for scheduling, we can start as early as Thursday 4/23/2020.

Physical connection with our horses and the outdoors have a way of healing and making us feel better.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Lily Giving Back
(October 2018)

Lily is quickly becoming a barn favorite, after being adopted from Lollypop farm earlier this year. Recently Bridges for Brain Injury started a session with Hillrise Equestrian Center, Lily is now giving back to the community right along with us! Below is the link to the Times of Wayne County, they did a wonderful story featuring Lily and how we integrate adaptive riding into our programs.
Times of Wayne County Article
It’s been 40 years since I’ve ridden a horse. It helps me remember my childhood. I’m so thankful for the experience. Grooming them helps me to relax.

Success in KY!
(September 2018)

A year ago we welcomed Izzy (Ecoach) to the Hillrise clan and started the Retired Racehorse Program. With official training starting in December the team of Janet, Danielle and Izzy were given 10 months to train in a new discipline.  Izzy placed 17 out of 135 riders in the Hunter Division in October of this year. Danielle also competed on her horse Bruno ( Il Vagabondo) and came in 18 out of the 135 riders. We are so incredibly proud of the accomplishments that these teams have made in the last year. Most importantly we would like to congratulate Izzy and Bruno to their FOREVER HOMES with us!
Izzy was the best shes has ever been in a show ring it was incredible! This Retired Racehorse Project has been an amazing experience.

What’s better than a new baby?
(July 2018)

Two new babies! We are so excited to welcome these little ones to the Hillrise family in November. Thank you to Cornell Equine Park for the opportunity to have such special, well bred foals. We just can’t wait to see what these two can do!
